2nd ride on the Madone for the year. Boy there is something about a stiff carbon ride that is simply magnificent. Its hard to describe. Nice day. Had to wait for the rain to subside. It was around 55 degrees fo the ride and the clouds changed from overcast to a blue sky on the western horizon as I rode. I felt fresh and strong but didn't last long. I am going to work on my strength training in the gym and gear it towards cycling if I can. I want to strengthen my lower back and my neck, shoulders and "lower core." I really wanna start eating better also.
A little post and pre-work ride. Finished installing my new (literally) 105 shifters that I got from Doug this morning. Same 2008 vintage that my Ultegra shifters are from and I honestly didn't notice a difference.
Greenpeace pullin' the Burley. We had a good time. Kian fell asleep three times. We stopped at a park in Minnetonka for Kian to play. We ate at Big Bowl in Byerly's in Ridgedale. Pretty cool time with the little guy.
Rode a pretty typical route down the Greenway, north up the river, through MPLS and out to Theo Wirth, and then onto the Kenilworth Trail to Ceadr Lake Rd. I then took an extra couple of miles to Wayzata Blvd(Frontage Rd) and then to the shop.
I really need to strat riding the Madone. There were some mechanical issues w/ the Black Trek, including a locked up front derailleurand a bent tooth on my large chainring in the front making it not possible to use my last two small cogs (top speed) on my cassette.
Otherwise a really nice ride.
It has been taking my legs longer than usual to get motivated during rides. I think I need to cut the running down in the winter and take some spin classes or something.
Rode out to the Minnetonka Middle School for a tour . It was just over 12 miles one way.the tour went well and solidified my thought that it will be a great school for Thatcher. Nice ride....beat the rain - whooo!
Liam, Kian and I went to the skate park. Decided to leave earl;y due to too many delinquents cussing like crazy. One pestered Liam to "borrow" his bike to do bunny hops. Liam is smart enough at 8 to know who the Fuckheads are. Kian enjoyed the ride in the trailer of course. Weather was nice for early April.
The first commute on this bike I was sluggish. I have to say that I don't have many trips under 10 miles that are brutal. I don't know why this one was, but the ride home was great. I've got a few more bnugs to work out on the black Trek, such as adjusting the rear deraileur drop and maybe replacing the chain to add a link or two. I may add spacers to the horizontal dropouts also.
