20 miles - Commute to owrk and then off to Theo for a lap with Mike Brower on his new Fuel Ex 8. "Rode" Brownie, but the trail was in shambles due to many trees down. Hope they get this stuff fixed soon. Brower is Red Squirrel II. - Suoperfly.
39.5 miles = 19.7 miles - 18.1 avg - 31.5 max - 1:05:14 (7/4/13) + 19.7 miles - 18.4 avg - 31.2 max - 1:04;14 (7/5/13) - Black Trek - Felt really stiff on the 4th. Skipped the 3rd due to a crazy virus of the ears, eyes and throat. I woke up on the 3rd with my eyes pasted shut. Anyway, it would have been nice to get some more outdoor time in on the North Shore, but, the family wasn't feelin' it this year. I want to strike off with one of the kids, a friend, or myself next year and do some MTBing, hiking or something fun on the water. I can't do the sitting around the cabin and skipping stones any longer.
18.4 miles - 17.0 avg - 21.3 max - 1:05:07 - Black Trek - From home around the east side of Lake Calhoun, then Lake Hariet , back around the west side of Calhoun and then a loop around Lake of the Isles and back up onto the Greenway and home.
24 miles - 9zero7 - Rode Big Willow on my way home last night and today took Brownie, which was really fresh and difficult. I skipped the last small section - still drained from the flu. I need to build up my base again from the 3 weeks off the bike.
18.5 miles - 9zero7 - off the bike for 18 solid days of sickness. Easy ride to work on the 26th and 27th, but on the 27th the ride home through 3 inches of medium-wet snow was tiring. It took roughly 45+ minutes to go 5.5 miles. But I wouldn't have been able to ride home if I had my GF Tassahara winter bike, with its "skinny MTB tires."
19 miles - 9zero7 - Supersweet daytime ride to Theo and Brownie on the fatbike. Conditions at Theo were good considering the doucher whose footprints are still there from a month ago. Couple of spots are extremely slick and some of the loop was real nice. I rode across Cedar Lake for the first time. Nice.
Pics of my 9zero7 fatbike. Its pretty much stock. After riding it for 300+ miles, I decided that I am going to upgrade the fork to a carbon fiber Carver (unless something else pops up), a carbon or Thompson post, and I am going to go 1x10 with a 34T chainring up front. I may change the bar to a carbon riser depending on cash flow. I am going to keep the Husker DU front tire and install a 45N escalator for the rear, because I like the scooping of the tread for some more uphill traction.
